Artway Alley
Public Art in Downtown Clinton
Local Art. Local Inspiration.
Tucked away in Downtown Clinton, Artway Alley transforms an ordinary passageway into a colorful celebration of art, nature, and our community.
The open-air art installation features 17 original works created by local artists, each inspired by the theme of nature in Sampson County. Together, the pieces offer a unique interpretation of the landscapes, plants, wildlife, agriculture, and natural beauty that make our corner of North Carolina special.
Artway Alley was created as part of an alleyway beautification project made possible through a Rural Community Capacity Implementation Grant received by the City of Clinton. In addition to the artwork, improvements to the space include enhanced lighting and decorative gateway signage, creating a more inviting pedestrian connection in the heart of downtown.
The project builds on the success of DASH Way, another downtown alleyway transformation completed in 2021, and continues Clinton's efforts to turn overlooked spaces into places that encourage visitors to slow down, explore, and experience our community in a new way.
As you make your way through Artway Alley, take a closer look at each piece and the local artist behind it. No two interpretations of Sampson County are quite the same — and that's part of what makes this collection so special.
